Miranda Lambert reacted to a rising singer-songwriter’s reimagined version of “The House That Built Me.”

Emmy Moyen, a rising artist from Mississippi who released her self-titled debut EP in October 2024, covered Lambert’s 2009 ballad in a video she shared on Monday (February 24). Instead of the original version, however, Moyen reworked the lyrics to imagine “what the house might say back.” Moyen’s rendition included nods to “putting handprints in the brand new drive,” the “‘how tall’ pencil marks in the hallway,” and being “proud of how you’ve outgrown all my roots, and what you’ve grown into.” Lambert shared the clip on her Instagram story on Tuesday (February 25) with a light blue heart emoji and an emoji of a pair of hands clapping.

Lamber released “The House That Built Me” on her 15-track album, Revolution. Her latest project is Postcards From Texas, a nod to the powerhouse singer-songwriter’s home state. The album includes “Armadillo,” “Dammit Randy,” “Santa Fe” with Parker McCollum, “Wranglers,” “Alimony,” “No Man’s Land” and more. Lambert recently premiered the cinematic, Western music video for “Run,” a vulnerable ballad written solely by Lambert. Lambert previously explained that the song is “from 2015. It’s old, and I’ve been kind of saving it. It didn’t really have a place. And I don’t know if I was actually ready, if I’m being honest, to sing it before now.” Watch the music video again here, and watch Moyen perform her version of “The House That Built Me” here:
